The caretaker will contribute to the growth and development of our English as a Foreign Language School and will lead on the delivery of providing a warm, safe, and secure environment in which all young learners are able to thrive.

Key Duties:

  • To assist in the planned and ad hoc maintenance and upkeep of the premises, the buildings, and the grounds.
  • To undertake the direct repair of fabric, services and fittings within recognised competence levels, including painting, lock repairs and replacement, equipment repairs, glazing safety repairs and general holding repairs; collecting materials from suppliers to facilitate repairs.
  • Conduct health & safety monitoring and compliance checks, and taking appropriate action where necessary to ensure premises are fit for purpose and safe.
  • Opening up and locking up the school premises; to undertake site checks and ensure that the building is kept secure at all times.
  • Performing stock takes
  • Dealing with staff and contractor enquiries; facilitating access to the site by authorised persons.
  • Facilitating the lettings operation and dealing with relevant enquiries
  • To ensure that the grounds, including the grass, beds and general areas are maintained to a high standard
  • Deliver Health and Safety induction for new staff
  • Carry out a wide variety of driving duties including: School Runs, Day Excursions and Airport/Port & Station Runs at weekends (mainly Saturdays)
  • Keeping vehicles in a clean and fit state, daily checks and defect reporting
  • Some light vehicle maintenance may be required

Qualifications/ Experience Required:

· Must be over 21

· Clean UK driving license

· Work well with children between the ages of 10 - 16

· Knowledge of local area as well as main London Airports, London inc. St Pancras International Station and Ferry Ports

· Customer Service Skills

· Polite & Helpful Manner / Well Presented

· DBS Certificate – desired but not essential

· Right to work in the UK

· 2x professional references

What you will need to successfully apply:
- You will preferably hold a enhanced DBS check in the update service.
- You will have previous maintenance experience.
- You will be a good problem solver with an eye for detail.
- You will have good verbal communication skills with children and adults alike.
- You will be able to carry out a range of general maintenance tasks.
- You will be able to drive.
- You will be a pro-active self starter.
