Scheduler

We are recruiting on behalf of a client of ours, for a temporary Scheduler, to work at the client location in Samlesbury, Preston.

Purpose of the Role

The scope of the site scheduler is to guarantee the service level in all stages of the brewery by creating / sequencing and updating schedules of brewing, transfer plans, tank planning, filtration schedules, yeast plans, filtrate, tankers, bulk movements and packaging plans.

The scheduler will be responsible to deliver optimised schedules taking into account key quality parameters, all brewery constraints and costs (optimised brewery utilisation).

They will be responsible for identifying & analysing risks for quality, out of stocks, working capital and obsolete management. This involves the ability to find, implement and coordinate solutions to mitigate potential risk. Principle

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver and communicate integrated schedules for the brewery, created with the input of the planning department, brewery operations and logistics operations. Translate these schedules directly into work instructions from filling lines back to the brew house and material schedules.
  • Execute day-to-day business transactions in an efficient and effective way. Pro-actively identify and close potential gaps in processes and systems.
  • Closely follow up and monitor the released schedules to ensure the customer service level is achieved without jeopardising quality.
  • Accountability for scheduling parameters (speeds, change over matrices, process lead times, process throughput speeds) as well as releasing, publishing and distributing newly created and updated schedules according to the agreed timings.
  • Manage and coordinate the inbound and outbound of bulk tankers for the site.
  • Responsible for integrating projects, overhauls, maintenances and other outages into the schedules.
  • Drive the working capital on inventories within our UK breweries. Focus on finished goods and WIP (work in progress) throughout optimised scheduling strategies.

Competencies Required

  • The site scheduler must be a self-starter, having the ability to prioritise the given challenges and work under tight timelines. This requires strong pro-active communication and decision taking skills to drive the operations across regional departments. The role requires a certain degree of assertiveness to obtain the most optimal schedules for the company.
  • Bachelor level or relevant experience with specific logistics business processes
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Knowledge of brewing processes (process flow) as well as working & operational knowledge and experience in relevant sub-areas in Supply Chain Planning, Logistics and Manufacturing.
  • Understand the key quality parameters to ensure optimum quality is achieved throughout the process
  • Ability to perform in high speed, multi-tasking and focused / results driven environment
  • Good communication, persuading and influencing and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to structure in a clear and concise way
  • Excellent understanding of supply chain operations and logistics processes
  • Able to understand quality/cost-impact versus customer-impact and able to find the right balance * Certain degree of flexibility
  • Team player with the ability to learn fast and support others
