Sales Estimator Employment type: Permanent, Full-time Location: Chadderton, Greater Manchester Hours: 8am-5pm, Monday - Friday Salary: £40,000-£45,000 per annum Benefits: 25 days holiday + Bank holidays, Company pension and more The Role/Company We are currently working with a highly reputable precision engineering and fabrication company that provide machined components to major manufacturers across the UK. They are now seeking to add a Sales Estimator to their team to play a vital role by producing detailed customer quotations and providing comprehensive planning of quotes and projects. Responsibilities: Prepare comprehensive price estimates based on customer instructions, samples, or drawings. Research and obtain pricing information for materials and sub-contract processes. Communicate with customers to discuss technical requirements and address inquiries. Handle purchasing activities related to quotations and ongoing projects, including raising purchase orders, coordinating with suppliers, and assigning purchases to specific jobs. Utilise the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and planning/scheduling systems to generate accurate quotations. Collaborate closely with the Engineering Manager to schedule work across CNC and NC Control Work Centres and machinist operatives. Evaluate and onboard suppliers and sub-contractors, ensuring high standards are maintained. Manage inventory of raw materials, ensuring proper system updates, and closely collaborating with the stores coordinator. Requirements: Strong background in mechanical engineering, ideally with a focus on machining. Proven track record in a similar estimating/planning role. Familiarity and expertise in operating machines such as XYZ Proturns (425 and 555), XYZ Protraks, CNC Bedmill, manual lathes up to 4 meters, waterjet, laser, welding, press brake, guillotine, and laser welding. Ability to understand machining processes and accurately estimate machining time for project completion. Proficient in assessing mechanical components that require repair. Effective communication with CNC operators to ensure optimal machining methods and practices. Knowledgeable in machining tolerances, finishes (e.g., coating, hardening), and various materials (ferrous and non-ferrous). Competence in interpreting manufacturing drawings. Experience utilising ERP systems and planning/scheduling software. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career with a growing organisation.
