We are seeking to appoint a maternity cover for the post of Safety Advisor and Estates Safety Partner within the Health and Safety Department at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

The postholder will report to the Head of Occupational Health and Safety and will act as Safety Advisor in most general safety matters across LSHTM. They will also, in an approximately equal division of their time, act as the Estates Safety Partner. In this latter role, they will also be accountable to the Estates Director and will assist them in the discharge of their health and safety duties. The successful applicant will help provide a customer focussed health and safety service and have a commitment to work with all stakeholders to continuously improve service levels offered and to promote and embed all safety matters.

The post-holder will have membership of IOSH or equivalent and NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent. Experience in construction, building or facilities maintenance alongside experience in having led on incident investigations is essential. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed-term until 31 October 2024. The post has a proposed start date of 4 September 2023.

The salary will be on the Professional Services salary scale Grade 6 in the range £42,875-£48,691 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
