Purpose

Responsible for SP Energy Networks’ Control Systems and databases, ensuring the operational integrity, reliable performance and high availability service provision of these business critical 24/7 services. You will lead and coach a diverse team to deliver agreed results, and to provide services and solutions that meet company standards.

Providing strategic direction to the asset management and replacement policies of the central estate of control systems, you will also support the delivery of the Distribution Protection, SCADA and Telecom elements of SP Energy Networks’ Capital Programme, including their commissioning onto the live Transmission and Distribution systems

Responsibilities

As RTS Manager South, you will manage major software and hardware support contracts for the range of installed apparatus and systems and deputise within the Management team as required.

Assisting in establishing operating plans for the department whilst leading the safety culture, ensuring all legislation and company rules, policies and procedures are adhered to, you will manage customer service proactively against a suitable set of measures and indicators.

Additional Responsibilities Of The RTS Manager South Will Include
  • Managing the capital and revenue budgets appropriately and in line with agreed objectives
  • Ensuring an appropriate structure of personnel and resources is available to achieve delivery of capital and revenue budgets
  • Coaching/developing and mentoring the team to ensure business objectives are met
  • Managing interfaces with a range of suppliers and contractors
  • Managing business and organisational change effectively and ensure performance, productivity and service standards are maintained / improved
  • Advising the Network Technical Services Manager on appropriate asset maintenance and replacement strategies.
  • Ensuring that the RTS assets are always appropriately maintained and support the delivery of asset replacement

Skills And Requirements
  • Working knowledge of SP Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices
  • Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Awareness of network development policies and procedures
  • Developed customer service skills
  • Excellent people leader skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cyber Security
  • Knowledge of network and business data and network management systems
  • Innovative in applying the latest technologies
  • Project, contract & SLA management and general commercial & regulatory awareness
  • Developed negotiation, communication and man management skills
  • Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges
  • Working knowledge of industrial relations framework
  • Experience in a line management role
  • Broad operational experience preferred, e.g. Control, Distribution, Transmission & general IT understanding

To be successful in a role you will need to demonstrate as minimum:
  • Educated to BSc/BEng (or HND/HNC with significant relevant experience)
  • IT systems appreciation
  • Detailed understanding of SP Energy Networks’ Central SCADA systems
  • Previous managerial experience is essential
  • Requirement to travel frequently within ScottishPower territory (North & South)

What we Offer

This is a permanent contract. Salary for this role will be from £54,600 per annum with 15% bonus, family healthcare and car allowance.
