This post is not suitable as a job share opportunityThis is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, robust and determined person who shares our commitment to end rough sleeping as soon as possible.City of York Council are looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic individual to provide intensive support to rough sleepers from the streets and into their own accommodation.You will support a caseload of customers, involving direct engagement with customers to identify their support needs and explore the barriers which have prevented them having effective engagement with services.You will aim to find ways of supporting customers to improve engagement with services and encourage holistic multi-agency working to develop realistic support plans.Customers may be vulnerable and under a lot of stress and therefore the successful applicants will have good interpersonal skills and will understand the issues facing homeless people and rough sleepers. You will be capable of working on your own initiative under the guidance of a supervisor.We’re looking for someone who can develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleagues, as well as with staff from the various support organisations and accommodation providers we work with.You will need to have the drive and commitment to support an often vulnerable and challenging client group. Excellent communication, influencing and reasoning skills are key, as is the ability to solve problems effectively.
