The Opportunity:

As the Rotating Equipment Engineer, you will be the accountable person on site for Rotating Equipment performance, maintenance and improvement. You will work with multiple teams including Asset, Operations, Maintenance, Turnaround and Engineering as well as teams from different countries. Key accountabilities

  • Ensuring compliance with HSSE standards and expectations set through the INEOS Life Saving Rules and 20 Safety Principles;
  • Promote safety culture through visible leadership in the field, for example Safety Observation Conversations, Audits and Near Miss reporting.
  • Work closely with asset engineering teams to develop appropriate maintenance strategies for rotating machinery based on equipment criticalities;
  • Support Asset Engineers in their Preventative and Predictive maintenance specifications for rotating machinery;
  • Monitor PM results and trending, and coach production teams in the use of these systems;
  • Support Asset engineers in specifying fit-for-purpose lubrication schedules and associated audit/close out;
  • Expertise in Bentley Nevada and other predictive techniques (motor feedback, vibration guns, lube oil analysis, etc.) – support Asset engineers with decisions around monitoring and intervention; with planned, break-in work, or run to failure;
  • Support Asset engineers with Equipment specific task lists for rotating machinery, ensuring they meet the needs of both the engineering specification and the maintenance execution teams;
  • Support failure reporting and cost allocation at an equipment level;
  • Work with the stores leads and procurement to audit spares / components and stores / storage conditions for rotating machinery spares;
  • Handle all 3rd party relationships through procurement and contract services;
  • Audit and coach notification quality and failure reporting to support MTBF/MTTR;
  • Rotating Machinery specialist MOC input across Production, Production Services, and Research. Able to develop and operate fit-for-purpose assurance levels. Clearly understand own capability / authority, and escalate appropriately;
  • SPA for the design and approvals associated with specifying, manufacturing, testing, installing, commissioning and setting of maintenance strategies for new or replacement rotating machinery through the Operations and Engineering teams. Work closely with the Fabrication and Quality Engineer to ensure appropriate Quality Plans are in place for new or repaired rotating machinery;
  • Input to TAR work scope identification;
  • Upkeep of site engineering practices relating to rotating machinery in line with group and legislative requirements;
  • Develop and embed standardised ‘best practice’ approaches to engineering and maintenance strategies across assets, where suitable;
  • Keep abreast of relevant innovations within the discipline and communicate these appropriately across site and broader networks;
  • Ensuring compliance with HSSE standards and expectations set through the INEOS group, and fostering a “Believe in Zero” culture;
  • Support Joint Ventures with all machinery issues which they need senior engineering support with via the technology team.

About you

We are looking for someone who has experience in R&M/Projects/TAR roles within the Petrochemical or Refining industries with technical specialism in the technical and practical aspects of Rotating Machinery, and a broad working knowledge of other disciplines; experience with Reliability tools, improving site bad actors, implementing maintenance strategies and conducting Root Cause Analysis and experience with Condition Based Maintenance tools such as vibration analysis, lubricant analysis, thermography etc.

You will have a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field (Masters Degree and Chartered Statues preferred), or Mechanical Apprenticeship to level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) with HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or HND preferred) with suitable experience in similar roles with a keen understanding of the practical maintenance of rotating equipment, such as equipment repair limits, repair methods, typical failure modes and appropriate industry standards.

Experience with the following equipment types is essential;

    • Centrifugal Pumps – OH1, OH2, OH6, BB1, BB2, BB3, BB4, BB5, VS4, VS5

    • Turbo-Expanders – Cryogenic service
    • General Purpose Steam Turbines – Pump Drive
    • Special Purpose Steam Turbine – Critical Service Drive
    • Centrifugal Compressors
    • Reciprocating Compressors
    • Mechanical Seals – Pumps
    • Dry Gas Seals – Compressors
    • Wet Gas Seals – Compressors

You will have a methodical approach to problem solving with an ability to understand the difference between urgency and importance and will be innovative and forward thinking. The ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and influence effectively is key, which means you will have excellent communication skills. The ability to balance conflicting demands in a continuously developing environment is also essential.
