Sue Ryder is one of the largest charity retailers in the UK with over 400 shops. Every item sold in our shops generates funding so we can continue to provide 2.7 million hours of expert medical, practical and emotional support every year, in our hospices and neurological centres, in people’s homes and in the community.

We have a much-loved presence on high streets across the country - with a range of and innovative shops, including boutiques, vintage and retro shops, and large format stores. As a member of the retail team you’ll be helping us Inspire communities to provide more care for more people through innovating and collaborating on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. You will also be contributing to drive up the income that generates the vital funds necessary to keep our care and support services running.

We understand our people are our most important asset and work hard to make sure you feel valued and included as part of a team. In retail most work every weekend, our managers mainly work only 1 in 2. We don’t expect our teams to work past 5.15 in most of our shops. The earliest we start is 8.45am. We have every Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day off.

Sue Ryder Scunthorpe is a large store situated with easy parking, next to The Range in Skippingdale Retail Park.
The shop stocks a great range of items which includes good quality ladieswear, menswear and children’s clothing as well as a large range of shoes and accessories We also have a large entertainment section with puzzles, games, CDs, DVDs and vinyl.
Our books department has a great selection in paperback and hardback, including topics such as cookery, craft and gardening amongst many more. We also stock a variety of great quality bric-a-brac, electrics and toys."

About you
Do you have experience of driving a commercial vehicle with a full UK driving licence? Do you work well in a fast paced environment? Would you like a chance to use your experience for an important cause? If so, come and join the team and contribute to the work we do across Sue Ryder!

To join us, you’ll need to have experience of multi-site collections and deliveries and be used to driving a medium to large size commercial vehicle and have the ability to manage priorities and deadlines. With these talents, you’ll deliver retail excellence to grow income and make a difference to Sue Ryder Healthcare and the people we support. As one of our van drivers you will play a vital role in helping our shops raise income.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Responsible for the collection and delivery of stock within agreed timescales across sales territories and regional boundaries.
  • To maintain security of stock during transportation and ensure careful handling of stock to minimise losses
  • Ensure completion and compliance for all admin processes, reports and paperwork relating to Health and Safety, vehicle checks, fuel purchases, data protection and Gift Aid.
  • Ensure your vehicle is legally compliant and clean at all times and all servicing, repairs and MOT are carried out as and when required.
  • Use email, google maps to plan effective routes and work schedules taking into account the efficient use of fuel
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder showing consideration when driving and providing excellent customer service.
To be successful in this role you must have:
  • Experienced driver Full UK driving licence at least B1 category on a UK licence.
  • IT literate & numerate including use of mobile phone, Tablets and PC
