Job description

Job Summary---

To work as part of a team delivering high quality care and education to children five years and under and to assist in the provision of a flexible service to fulfil the needs of the children and their families.

Main Job Activities

To work as part of a team, planning and implementing a suitable range of activities for children 0 - 5 years on a daily basis, based on a broad curriculum as advised by the pre-5 sector.

To create a friendly and welcoming learning environment where children will feel relaxed and happy

To promote positive behaviour in all areas of the nursery and encourage mutual respect and awareness of others.

To be aware of all relevant health and safety issues as set out in the company handbook and safety manual.

To work closely with parents keeping them informed of their child’s progress on a daily basis and providing information relating to each child’s development and learning.

To maintain records and reports as appropriate.

To attend and participate in staff meetings and training internally and externally

To be responsible for all other areas of work as designated by the Nursery Manager

Qualifications

Essential

HNC in Childcare and Education OR

SVQ 3 in Childcare

Desirable

First Aid

Elementary Food Handlers Certificate

Skills / knowledge / understanding

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Ability to work as part of a team as well on own initiative

Sound knowledge of child development

Knowledge of 0 - 5 curriculum and experience in planning procedures

Experience of report writing and record keeping

Understanding of nursery policies
