Happy Little Sunbeams Day Nursery are looking for a qualified Level 3 Early Years Practitioner, (must be full and relevant to Early Years) with no less than 3 years experience of working in a Pre-School Room as a Room Leader. Our approach to caring for children is loving, warm and interactive, we strive to ensure that all children feel safe in our care and we provide rich learning opportunities. The the candidate must have full knowledge of Safeguarding requirements and all aspects of this including reporting concerns.

A thorough understanding and knowledge of legislation including the Early Years Foundation Stage is essential plus knowledge of the EYFS reforms Sept 2021. The successful candidates will have an enthusiastic and positive attitude along with excellent communication and written skills.

The ability to build strong, supportive relationships with children, parents and staff and have excellent interpersonal skills and with proven supervisory and mentoring experience.

Role overview and responsibilities:

  • Ensuring high quality childcare and teaching is provided in a safe and hygienic room to support the welfare and wellbeing of every child we care for.
  • Ensure the candidate is a role model for staff, they practice high levels of professionalism and adhere to our code of conduct.
  • Coaching, mentoring and supervising the Nursery practitioners within the room ensuring they are fulfilling their roles and responsibilities.
  • Providing support to the Nursery Deputy Manager and communicate effectively to ensure receive support in the room.
  • Carry out observations and termly reports on our children.
  • Forming excellent working relationships with parents/carers and they are kept informed of their child’s learning and development at every opportunity. Arrange termly stay and play sessions and provide newsletters.
  • Early Years Foundation Stage is embedded in the room and staff use the Development Matters document to support learning and development.
  • Ensuring the room display boards and communication boards are up to date and relevant to the termly topic and celebrations.
  • Ensuring the Key Person’s information is up to date and have regular discussion with staff in room to ensure they are on track with their key children.
  • Have experience of caring for children with SEND.
  • Experience of working with professionals.
  • Prepare children for the next milestone in their lives and give them the independence and confidence to transition into school life.

This position is a full-time position, 12 Month contract with a view to permanent and salary is dependent on experience and suitability of the successful candidate.

Skills/Qualifications:

Level 3 (or above) full and relevant Childcare Qualification
Relevant childcare qualifications in accordance with OFSTED guidelines
Thorough understanding and knowledge of legislation including EYFS
Empathetic, caring and friendly
Enthusiastic, positive attitude
Patient
Proven supervisory and coaching experience
