UK Independence Team – Risk Management – Independence Senior Associate (Personal Independence Compliance Testing)

Within the professional services environment, appropriate risk management is fundamental to the successful delivery of our client services and promotion and protection of our brand. Within EY, the Risk Management (RM) group (which covers audit Independence, anti-bribery, anti-money laundering, data protection, enterprise and business risk, and other risk and regulatory areas), is responsible for the promotion, protection and support of risk management within the business. The group aims to uphold our business standards, maintain and enhance the value of the brand, and ensure that the firm complies with the rules and regulations imposed on it in relation to the conduct of its business.

The UK Independence Team forms part of the UK&I Risk Management Group (“RM”) which reports directly to senior management

The Opportunity:

Due to significant planned growth in the business, EY Risk Management is looking to significantly expand its UK Independence Team. A vacancy now exists for a Senior Associate within the Personal Independence Compliance Testing (PICT) team.

The PICT Team is responsible for running the firm’s PICT process which is an important aspect of EY’s Global Risk Management procedures. All professionals within all EY member practices must be in compliance with the firm’s Independence policy and the Global PICT program is in place to ensure that professionals are free from interests that might compromise EY’s and their own objectivity, integrity and impartiality.

This is a permanent, full time position based in London and prior Independence experience is desirable but not essential.

Your key responsibilities:
  • Providing advice and guidance to Partners and professionals in respect of the PICT process
  • Working with colleagues in EY overseas Global Delivery Services functions, including reviewing the output/quality of work they produce and providing feedback as required
  • Reviewing and communicating the outcomes of the PICT process to candidates
  • Assisting the PICT Managers and Senior Managers in managing the PICT process, including
    • Determining the sample of Partners and Professionals to be tested
    • Developing updates to the PICT information request and reporting templates
  • Providing feedback and recommendations to the Global PICT Team for updates to the testing tool
  • Supporting Independence Team Directors reporting on PICT results to key committees and stakeholders, including Service Line, Firm and Global Leadership
  • Supporting senior members of the team with responses to regulatory requests regarding PICT
  • Ad hoc support of other parts of the UKI Independence Team

Skills and attributes for success:
  • Be capable of working using own initiative, with excellent communication and organisational skills

To qualify for the role you must have:
  • Have strong analytical and interpretation skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Be adaptable and flexible with good team working skills

Ideally, you’ll also have:
  • The ability to work to pre-determined deadlines and meet objectives under pressure
  • The ability to think strategically and handle complex concepts

We are looking for someone with the following attributes / experience:

Desired
  • Independence professionals with significant experience at Associate level looking for the next step in their career.
  • Alternatively, Risk Management/Compliance professionals currently working at a Senior Associate level.

Considered
  • Individuals with audit/assurance or other relevant professional qualifications with experience in quality/risk management/independence procedures.
