About the Role

Base Location: Flexible UK | We’re proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base ’home’ location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around the UK.

Salary: £26,609 - £30,472 + van + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

A rising main is where the incoming mains enters a multi occupancy property and rises through the building and service cables radiate from the main to meter positions on each floor. SSEN Distribution is developing a programme to regularly inspect all rising mains installations within their Southern Licenced Area and to support this we are recruiting Inspectors to do the inspections including:

  • Complete assessment and upload information onto the App of electrical installations throughout the building including to the meter location within the residences.
  • Create Schematic of the electrical installation and identify and escalate any unsafe cable installations.
  • Have an understanding of the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) business and an understanding of the Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations (ESQCR).
  • Understanding of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations including Asbestos and Confined space awareness.

What do I need?

  • Energy and Utility Skills Register (EUSR) trained, preferably in Safety, Health and Environment Awareness (SHEA) Power.
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card holder.
  • Electrical and/or civil building regulations qualification to City and Guilds/Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) standards (working towards but not essential) CAT1C, CAT4E, CAT4G, CAT5A, CAT5B & CAT5D Authorisations (working towards but not essential).
  • Experience in lone working and in completing point of work risk assessments and identifying hazards with excellent communication skills.
  • Installation/repair and maintenance of cable containment (trunking/tray work/ducting and risers).
