Resident Design Engineer (based at Cummins, Darlington)
Responsibilities
Based at the customer premises your responsibilities will include:
- Design wiring systems for one or more projects (both 2D and 3D)
- Responsible for the application of product design of one or more compartments
- Performs one or several of the following design elements:
- 2-D / 3-D Harness routing
- Design Release Engineering
- Module split of 2D designs
- Module logistic code definition
- Evaluation of customer systems
- Change Management
- Schematic Design
- Wire Dimensioning
- Responsible for technical content for documentation according to customer specifications
- Regular communication with customer engineers to ensure customer satisfaction
- Assist in the production of timing plans for new projects that accurately reflect the project timescales & customer needs
- Assists in the creation & maintenance of a project DFMEA
- Participate in regular meetings both internal & external
- Lead internal meetings for live projects
- Assist in resolving current product assembly line issues assigned to Leoni
- Participate in VA/VE review meetings
- Ensure that VA/VE is utilized to minimize costs & maximize productivity & quality
- Review customer drawings prior to release to the Leoni manufacturing site & report any issues to the relevant customer engineer
- Complies with the requirements shown in the SOW agreed between LEONI & the customer
Your Profile
- Preferably educated to degree level in Engineering
- Expert knowledge of CAD Systems (PTC Creo, Zuken &/or CapH),
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Vehicle Electrical System Design
- Working knowledge of MS Office software.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under own initiative
- Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Prepared to travel as required UK/overseas
