A rapidly expanding life sciences company are looking for a highly skilled, senior level R&D professional with a mechanical engineering or optics background to be based from their site in Southwest England. The successful candidate will have the passion and technical capability to drive product development projects to completion/ launch and post market follow-up.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and leading R&D projects with the objective to enhance the knowledge and expertise of the Company’s technical areas.
  • Evaluating the requirements of the market whilst establishing opportunities for technological improvement.
  • Contributing to the New Product Development process and acting as subject matter expert.
  • Ensuring stakeholders are kept up to speed on progress whilst contributing to the idea evaluation process.
  • Managing the Research team which include in Research Engineers, Al Engineers/Scientists and Electronics Engineers.
  • Working closely with the commercial team providing training and support to ensure full understanding of the product and achievement of company goals.
  • Technical Transfer
  • Ensuring all products comply with the relevant regulations
Essential Criteria
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Physics, etc.).
  • Previous experience managing an R&D team from the scientific instrumentation, medical device, diagnostics or other related industry
  • A history of managing R&D projects through to completion.
  • Experience developing instruments from the concept stage through to product launch and post market follow-up.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex matters to non-experts
  • Strong technical presentation skills.
