The Vaccine Group (TVG) pursues the innovative design, construction and characterization of herpesvirus vaccine vectors. We apply state-of-the-art technology towards the control of infectious diseases that impact human and animal health, and the economy. These disease causing pathogens include viruses such as Ebola, Lassa and SARS-CoV-2 that directly impact human health, as well as those that affect critical animal populations such as African swine fever virus in pigs and zoonotic diseases of domesticated livestock species.

The use of vaccines against bacteria to curb our high use of and dependence upon antibiotics is an area of growing focus. We at TVG work not in isolation, but instead regard ourselves as only a single node of expertise in an international network of interactive scientists.

We exploit the huge advances in genetic recombination technology, particularly bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC)-based approaches to address significant challenges in animal and human health with a speed and effectiveness that would have been unimaginable just a few years ago.
