We have two available Research Assistant/Associate positions in the Department of Engineering, to work on modelling of gas turbine combustion. One will focus on thermoacoustics and the other on emissions and ignition, and both will use Computational Fluid Dynamics and low-order modelling.

The post holders will be located in Central Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities and duties are to perform simulations and develop models, analyse the results in the context of modern theories, present to sponsors and partners, and prepare publications.

Applicants must have a PhD degree in Engineering or related topics. They must be experienced with combustion modelling, gas turbine and turbulent combustion fundamentals, CFD, low-order models for thermoacoustics or emissions or ignition, and massively-parallel computations. The candidate must have excellent writing and presentation skills and must be able to work in a team and must be willing to interface with industry.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD (or equivalent experience in industry). Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.

Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £28,929 - £33,348 Research Associate: £35,308 - £43,155

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance.
