We are looking for a motivated and experienced professional, to join us as our new Repairs Team Leaderon a 6 month FTC. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead from the front managing a team of front-line surveyors whilst they deliver the survey specifications of repairs in our homes.

You will drive the team to meet financial targets and deliver data to different parts of the business in relation to asset management, building relationships and influencing a variety of teams along the way, particularly the building repairs team.

Your Role

Your main responsibilities will includeensuring Yorkshire Housing receives quality and value for money through effective contract management of repairs works. You will have the autonomy when it comes to spend - monitoring the repairs budget, controlling spend to ensure that overspend does not occur and report to managers and the Area Committee on performance and spend.

Whilst showing initiative, you will manage the day to day work of your team ensuring quality control, contract management, contractor performance and attend Regional Quality Meetings with contractors.

You will also provide technical advice to non-technical staff and customers as well as maintaining a close working relationship with other Yorkshire Housing departments to ensure a joined up approach to customer repairs expectations are delivered.

The below would also be great;

  • Experience of managing contractors in a partnering environment
  • Previous line management responsibility
  • Experience of budget management within a demand led environment
  • Detailed knowledge of building construction and services, and a diagnostic approach to the identifications and rectification of building defects
  • Knowledge of contract administration processes and terminology
  • Practical attitude with ability to make decisions on best approach from a technical perspective.
  • Excellent level of practical and theoretical understanding of construction and service issues and how these interact with organisational objectives
  • Skilled in the supervision of specialist and multi-disciplined contractor
  • Good communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
