Summary

Canon’s House provides respite care to children and young people with learning disabilities.

We provide a safe but therapeutic environment where the children and young people learn and develop social and self-help skills.

All staff are responsible for providing a high quality, efficient and effective short-breaks service that responds to the needs of disabled and life-limited children and young people and their families/carers within a dedicated team.

About The Role

We are looking to build a strong, dynamic, flexible and dedicated team of relief care staff to work within the Care Team at Canon’s House, a Children’s Home that provides a respite care and support service for Children and Young People.

As a member of our relief care team, you will be responsible for providing a high quality, efficient and effective short-breaks service that responds to the needs of disabled and life-limited children and young people and their families/carers within a dedicated team.

You will be required to work as part of a team, undertake a varied, fun and enjoyable range of activities with children and young people, supporting them with personal care and taking part in handover’s, offering suggestions and ideas to help the shift leader plan activities for the shift and take an active role in developing approaches towards positive outcomes for children and young people.

Our Relief Care Team form an essential part of our provision and are relied upon to be flexible, dynamic, energetic and passionate about enriching the lives of children and young people with multiple and profound learning disabilities, complex health and care needs and behaviours that can challenge.

This is a casual role that suits those with other forms of employment, family commitments and can act as a fantastic way into Health and Social Care with Children and Young People.

Full training and support is provided.

About You

We will look to you to be motivated, enthusiastic with good interpersonal skills and willing to work flexibly in order to support children to enjoy a range of activities and develop their skills.
