Summary

This regional role will focus on both short and long term real estate strategies across stores and depots, managing the delivery of new stores through to legal completion, alongside estate management of the portfolio in the geographical region. The role will play a key part in the rotation of the M&S store estate to ensure it is fit for the customer of the future and delivers sustainable shareholder value.

Please note this role will cover the South of England. 1 day per week you will be required to work out of our Paddington office, the remainder working remotely and visiting sites across region.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Identify new store opportunities (full line, Foodhall and Simply Food), managing the delivery of new store projects through to legal completion
  • Drive value from the existing estate

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Experience of securing a variety of sites
  • Critical thinking with the ability to reach data driven solutions
  • Strong communicator with the confidence to present to senior leaders
  • Good working knowledge of Landlord and Tenant law
  • Experience of working alongside and leading other professionals within a project group incl QS, agents, architects, lawyers, town planners.
  • When faced with ambiguity, finds ways to move forward and avoid getting stuck
  • Can flex their behaviour and style to be effective in a variety of situations and with different stakeholders
  • Treats communication as a two-way process and can adapt style, knowing when to provide and request information
  • Comfortable and effective working and managing across different business units, functions, teams and balancing the needs of different stakeholders within these
  • Researches the external environment as well as internally to generate ideas and find opportunities to improve
  • Uses data, customer insight and market analysis to plan and create a clear strategy
  • Creates a compelling plan and takes personal accountability for delivering this
  • Clearly assesses a problem, analyses the options, and has a method for picking the best one to drive the change needed
  • Holds themselves and their teams accountable for delivering objectives and business targets
  • Makes sense of complex issues, systems and processes and communicates in way all colleagues understand, believe in and commit to
