As a regional director, you will provide multi-unit leadership, focusing on guest and team member satisfaction. Acting as a direct mentor to hotel General Managers and the regional team. You will provide support and resources, both in person and remotely from our head office in Newcastle.

We pride ourselves in achieving exceptional results in operating hotels from our ability to blend the knowledge of hotel management with the art and professionalism of hospitality. WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in senior management role within the hospitality industry as General Manager or above
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organisational change and development within a growing organisation.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Must have excellent attitude with a positive influence on others
  • Applicants must be empathetic to the thoughts, comments and needs of guests and staff.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong background in hotel operations to include sales, revenue management, front desk and housekeeping
  • Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver and results oriented
  • Ability to operate as an effective tactical and strategic thinker
  • Superior management skills: ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
  • Flexibility to relocate in Newcastle if not already from the area

Company

Over 50 years ago Sandman Hotel Group opened our first location, a quaint Inn located in Smithers, British Columbia, Canada. Since then, we have grown into a truly international company with over 50 locations across Canada, the USA, the UK&I and growing. From those humbling beginnings, Sandman has come a long way.

In 2011, Sandman expanded into the UK with Sandman Signature Newcastle Hotel, situated directly across the street from St. James’ Park and in the building that once held the offices of the prestigious Newcastle Brewery, brewers of Newcastle Brown Ale. This closely followed by London Gatwick, a project designed to create a memorable and enjoyable experience for those travelling through the airport and those staying at leisure guests. In the summer of 2018, our group saw the launch of Sandman Signature Aberdeen Hotel & Spa, the groups’ flagship property in the UK boasting 218 guest bedrooms, a specialist whisky bar and a Grand Ballroom with a capacity of more than 300.

In October 2019, we acquired the stunning Portmarnock Resort, Dublin’s only coastal resort - complete with Championship Golf Links, a spa and award-winning restaurants. Sandman Hotel Group UK&I will expand further in 2023 with the planned opening of Sandman Signature Glasgow Hotel.
