NHS England East are looking for a deputy head of communications to help promote and protect the reputation of the NHS, working with local health can care organisations, stakeholders and partners to contribute to delivery of safe, high quality care.

As part of a 24/7 professional communications team, the Deputy Head of Communications in the region will provide leadership for an experienced communications team responsible for managing, protecting and enhancing the reputation of the NHS through clear and coherent messaging. You will work strategically to use established channels to greatest effect and help innovate the way we communicate and engage to ensure an inclusive, professional and coordinated approach that contributes to delivery of the priorities in the East; including the ongoing response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

You should have excellent writing skills and experience of delivering high-quality communications for different audiences. You will need to build and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work with communications colleagues across the Integrated Care Systems in the region. With experience in implementing and evaluating proactive, integrated campaigns you will need to be creative, thoughtful, well organised and confident working independently. You will need to be comfortable working flexibly across proactive and reactive work to support delivery of all team priorities.

This role requires an enthusiastic candidate with excellent communications skills, relevant experience and a can-do attitude able to deliver the priorities of the NHSE/I executive and the regional director.
