Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and causes of prison stress are minimised. Central to our philosophy is the relationship between staff and prisoners. Our training and operational practices emphasise the need to treat prisoners with dignity and respect and G4S staff build positive and supportive relationships with the prisoners in their care. HMP & YOI Parc accommodates 1038 convicted male adult prisoners and remand/ convicted young offenders and young people in a secure but modern environment.

We are looking for an intuitive and passionate individual who also has an eye for detail and seeing projects through to completion. You will be responsible for Parc’s ‘whole prison approach’ to substance misuse, directly overseeing the delivery of services to individuals in recovery alongside increasing the understanding and awareness of staff and prisoners around the prison. You will also have the freedom and ability to drive forward broader work to improve health, wellbeing, resettlement and rehabilitation outcomes, maximising opportunities for positive change across the population.

  • Be aligned to wider rehabilitation and resettlement strands including early days in custody, accredited programmes, families, and safety to provide a consistent approach to meeting needs.
  • Lead on Parc’s approach to health and wellbeing for both staff and prisoners and work alongside HMP Parc’s health provider to deliver integrated care and treatment
  • Have an understanding of recovery, behaviour change and positive psychology to support the prison’s rehabilitative culture.
  • Seek and support community opportunities for recovery based and wider ROTL and resettlement opportunities.
  • Lead on embedding recovery prisoner peer mentors as an integral part of the service
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure they understand their role in the prison drug strategy and this is evident in daily delivery.
  • Ensure regular communication and training is available to all staff to tackle the problem of drugs in prison.
  • Contribute to driving forward Parc’s approach to resettlement, building relationships with external agencies and identifying partners to work alongside
  • Identify and take forward business development opportunities that will improve outcomes for individuals residing at Parc in relation to recovery and resettlement
  • Ensure a consistent focus on evidence based and informed practice, working in partnership with academic partners and promoting research and innovation across recovery and resettlement services
  • Work closely with HMPPS and G4S colleagues regionally and nationally to share practice and drive improvement across reducing reoffending, recovery, resettlement and rehabilitation services
  • Lead on HMP Parc’s engagement with regional and national HMPPS policy teams (e.g. Drug Strategy Taskforce)
