We are currently recruiting a Receptionist/Administrative Assistant to join our team at Gateshead. This is a temporary position to cover a period of maternity leave and will last 12 months. We expect the position to start in January 2022.

Overview
Ben Hoare Bell LLP is a well-established firm of solicitors operating from four sites in Sunderland, Gateshead, Newcastle and Middlesbrough.
The firm has a strong ethical base and wishes to remain committed to operating within the publicly funded area of legal work, offering a high-quality service to people regardless of means. The firm has grown considerably in recent years and despite the changes in legal aid is planning to expand further.
On occasion the post holder may be required to provide support at other offices or locations from which the firm operates.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- General
To work in reception and to undertake other administrative and departmental tasks/duties.
- Call Handling
To answer calls in a polite and professional manner. To take sufficient details and provide a helpful service to all callers. Where appropriate to transfer calls to colleagues and/or take detailed yet concise messages.
- Work with other agencies and the public
To deal with a range of individuals and agencies in a friendly and efficient manner.
To give and obtain relevant information subject to the duty of confidentiality to the client.
- Reception
To provide front of house cover for the senior receptionist when required.
- Administration
To undertake a range of administrative tasks relating to case files as and when required.
- Office Environment
To assist in work which maintains the fabric and quality of the work environment.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Skills (all essential)
- Excellent communication, written and oral.
- Computer literate, experience with Microsoft.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Good interpersonal skills including good telephone manner.
Qualifications
- Evidence of Numeracy and Literacy (essential)
Experience
- Experience of work in an office environment or of work in contact with the public (desirable).
Personal
- Understanding of the ethical principles of the firm.
- Willingness to participate in the day to day running of an office.
- Tact
- Ability to remain calm and professional.
