Cargills European protein business is a leading supplier and innovator of further processed chicken products for retail, food service and food manufacturing customers. This key position in our R&D Team will lead a small team of Food Scientists to define and deliver new products, existing product improvements and innovation through deep technical partnership with a key strategic customer. You will partner with Commercial and Marketing to ensure a compelling and proactive pipeline of product innovation.

Key Accountabilities

Ensure customer acceptance by applying product technical leadership into submissions of product innovations to meet the key performance indicators of product superiority, consumer experience, launch timing and cost

Partner in a collaborative manner with key cross functional teams to align on customer and product sales, marketing, finance, manufacturing and supply chain, food safety, quality and procurement strategies and create technical product solutions to deliver against these strategies

Apply research, interpretation and application of consumer and industry trends by managing product design resources and leading innovation with internal and external suppliers in exciting new product concepts, samples and prototypes to ensure compelling and proactive pipeline of product innovations

Use Project Management approaches for the end to end development process

Champion manufacturing and quality initiatives through product recipe or formulation modification to best drive safety, quality and capacity

Develop and deliver in person or virtual technical product innovation workshops to showcase creative recipe or formulation development

Provide leadership to further develop the product research and development teams including advancing capabilities and business impact and build the regional and global community to increase organizational agility

Coach and mentor a small team of R&D Professionals

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or food technology subject or demonstrated equivalent experience

Proven experience in a food manufacturing NPD/R&D Environment either for QSR, Retail or private label

Able to effectively engage other departments and stakeholders across a matrix organisation

Experience successfully bringing new products, upgrades and cost / improvement initiatives to market through an agile project management approach

Prefered Qualifications

Experience with Meat/ Poultry products
