RF Design Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced RF design engineer to join the engineering team at a world leader in marine electronic navigation systems.

As our hardware platforms evolve to encompass leading edge technologies we have a requirement for an additional RF engineer, focussed on providing additional strength in hardware and, ideally, associated firmware/software development.

You will have a demonstrably strong track record in the design and development of electronic products, with a particular emphasis on RF circuits and systems.

In addition, you should have experience of “full lifecycle” design of complete embedded RF products.

Duties will include:

• Working with Senior RF Design Engineer on new and existing designs

• Detailed RF (VHF) and IF circuit design, including modelling and simulation

• Supervision of RF circuit layout and routing on multi-layer PCBs

• Evaluation, testing and improvement of designs

• Reviewing of peer designs

• Complete required project documentation

• Collaboration with, and close integration of, design work with other specialist disciplines

Broad technical knowledge is required in more than one of the following domains:

• Design of RF (VHF) and IF circuits such as PLL synthesiser, low phase noise VCO, high linearity mixer, low noise amplifier, high-power solid-state switching

• Simulation of RF circuits and environments, preferably using ADS

• Integration of RF circuits with baseband and power circuits in embedded systems

• PCB layout techniques for RF and EMC performance

• Design for manufacture and test suitable for medium production volumes

• Creating designs to meet type approval standards and supporting those designs through the type approval process

• DSP and SDR knowledge would be highly desirable
