What are we looking for


ITM Power is looking for a scientist to join the team in the research and development of polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolyser systems. Our scientists work as part of a dedicated and multi-disciplined team. This is a practical role and you will be expected to spend your time in the laboratory, working within a team towards the development of new products to a tight timetable of demanding targets. Responsibilities will include developing solutions from initial concept stage through to production handover.


Responsibilities


  • Research and development of polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolyser systems
  • Fundamental research into ITM technology and new applications
  • Characterisation of materials
  • Development of new products and production methods
  • Development and validation of analytical methods for the quality control of the developed processes
  • Identification of new IP
  • Presentation of results to groups including directors and external funding bodies
  • Management of internal and externally funded project

All of the above forms part of the core duties of the role, but other duties may be required that are within the competency of the role.

  • Ability to apply scientific knowledge and skills to a range of problems
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Excellent practical and technical skills
  • Well organised and able to plan and progress work activities to meet deadlines and achieve goals
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Exceptional time management
  • Computer literate with good use of computer software programmes, including Microsoft office
  • A good knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations and guidelines
  • Degree in a science subject or equivalent experience
