At our plant in Glenrothes, Scotland we design, develop and produce radial piston motors working in partnership with world renowned international OEM’s in industries such as material handling, construction and forestry machinery. The R&D department is responsible for performing tests on motors and motor parts during the development and lifecycle of our products and analysing and reporting on the results. This includes new product developments, endurance and performance testing along with supplier approvals and quality tests. As R&D Manager you will manage and develop the department to make the most of existing equipment and to plan and implement new equipment development and installation.

• Bachelor of Engineering 2:1 in Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
• Proven leadership, personnel development, planning & organisational skills.
• Competence in testing mechanical components, ideally hydraulics.
• Sound understanding of measurement and control fundamentals.
• Strong specification and report writing skills.
• Ability to manage facilities and capital projects.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the R&D testing team and line manage R&D Engineers and Technicians
• Ensure appropriate development of staff and a culture of safe working at all times.
• Ensure the reliable and safe operation of the R&D test facility.
• Schedule, implement, record, analyse and report on all R&D testing to meet internal and external customer requirements. Ensure reliable and secure record keeping.
• Continuously improve systems, test methods and processes to maximise efficiency and utilisation of equipment.
• Develop new test methods to resolve uncertainty in product development.
• Plan and implement the design and installation of test equipment.
• Participate in and provide technical advice to cross-functional teams in areas such as new product development and field observation.
