QUALITY MANAGER - Wolverhampton, Permanent

EMBS Engineering has partnered with a new customer that is a well established, growing precision engineering company that designs and manufactures small to medium sized components for a number of industries including aerospace, automotive, marine, defence, oil & gas amongst others.

The components are typically low volume machined parts coupled with fabrication & assembly capabilities.

This vacancy is truly a tremendous opportunity for an experienced Quality Manager who is seeking a challenge where you will have the chance to identify new strategies, implement new processes, and really put your mark on the quality department.

This role would be ideal for someone who has a knowledge / background of machining, has worked been exposed to parts that are supplied to the aerospace industry and have the confidence to implement new ways of thinking and new procedures to an existing team.

Overview:

• Experienced Quality Manager required
• £55,000 - £60,000 p.a depending on experience
• Hours: 8am - 5pm, 8am - 1pm on Fri
• Training & Development opportunities internally within the first 12-18 months

Main purpose and scope of the role:

• Take ownership of the transformation from utilising a QMS to implementing a culture driven aerospace-standard BMS.
• Identify, contain and resolve the challenges within the business that are related to quality, with a particular focus on compliance, Right First Time and cost of quality.
• Provide leadership for the entire business on Quality matters, working with the SLT and the Quality Team to implement best practices and ensure accountability.
• Manage the operational quality aspects across the whole business and be the point of escalation for all customer for quality issues.
• Manage the quality team and ensure appropriate resource allocation across all business units
• Ensure the business maintains certifications to external Quality standards to support the current and future business plan.

Successful applicants MUST be able to demonstrate:

• Solid quality background
• Sound quality management experience
• Previous working knowledge and experience of being involved with precision sub-assembly machined components
• Aerospace background
• Knowledge and understanding of AS9100 and ISO9001
• Ability to conduct internal & external audits to AS9100 & ISO9001
• Lead auditor in AS9100 Rev D
• Previous experience in implementing change, new strategies and identifying new strategies
• Strong leadership qualities
• Ability to challenge status quo
• Understanding and experience using QMS’ & BMS’
