Quality Manager

This is what you’ll be doing as Quality Manager:

  • Continually review, maintain, and update Quality and Food Safety management systems.
  • Provide regular updates on system performance and suitability to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Advise the SLT on quality control and food safety issues, offering plausible solutions.
  • Lead site visits and 3rd party/customer audits, ensuring implementation of corrective actions and driving quality improvement.
  • Implement relevant Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and track progress to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the Food Safety team is fully qualified and trained according to company requirements.
  • Promote customer requirements awareness throughout the company.
  • Facilitate external communications and liaison regarding the management systems.
  • Develop and maintain a culture that prioritizes quality production and fosters a spirit of continuous improvement.
  • Monitor performance across production areas, collaborating with the Production Manager to improve performance based on risk assessment, ingredient testing, product testing, observations, and incidents.
  • Implement and maintain programs to ensure compliance with 3rd party industry standards (e.g., BRC, Informed Manufacturer, etc.).
  • Lead the HACCP Team and initiatives, including training, advising, and organizing.
  • Maintain, monitor, review, and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, and Work Instructions to ensure the highest quality products and plant environment.
  • Participate in site documentation reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Perform risk assessments on new ingredients and update the HACCP register accordingly.
  • Lead VACCP and TACCP activities, including research, record keeping, horizon scanning, and internal briefings.
  • Stay updated on trends and changes affecting food safety, recommending and implementing procedure and policy changes.
  • Lead responses on quality/technical matters for customers, inspectors, and auditors.
  • Contribute to internal and system audits, ensuring completion of corrective actions.
  • Support new product/customer launches by providing required documentation and ongoing documentation for current customers.
  • Mentor and develop the Quality team, assigning and monitoring tasks.

The experience you’ll bring to the team as Quality Manager:

  • Experience and awareness of BRC V9 to maintain AA grade.
  • Quality Assurance experience within the food industry.
  • Degree-level education, preferably in food technology or a scientific field.
  • Demonstrated strategic continuous improvement in food safety and Quality.
  • HACCP Level 3/4 qualification.
  • Supervisory/management expereince
  • Ability to influence positive change in the Quality process and culture.
  • Excellent communication skills, both internally at SLT level and externally for accreditation.
