Quality Engineer - Permanent - 37,000 per annum - Chelmsford

Do you have previous experience in a quality role within manufacturing? Are you looking to take a step into management? Our global client is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for being the main representative of the quality department to the daily operation, customers, and suppliers whilst managing one member of staff and will take ownership of the application, maintenance, development, and assessment of all quality related areas within the business. These include maintaining quality standards/requirements, quality planning, reporting, procedure development, corrective action activity, and collaborating on supplier quality improvement.

Duties
  • Establish and achieve planned performance levels in product conformance and process capability. Promptly report any variance from plan and recommend corrective action(s). Work with management to develop, optimise and implement policies creating a clear vision and the execution of a results-driven Quality Management System, which will create business-wide improvements and high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Lead the site based quality team, developing capability across all areas with the quality function.
  • To act as the main representative of the quality department to internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers on a day-to-day basis.
  • Responsible for all customer issues and returns, from initial customer contact through to a timely resolution for the customer.
  • Leading and facilitating the corrective and preventive action processes to ensure they are effectively identifying the root cause of issues; implementing robust corrective/preventive actions and problem resolution is permanent.
  • Responsible for organising the completion of the agreed internal audit schedule for the site, ensuring all internal audits are carried out on time.
  • Responsible for ensuring all actions identified during internal audits are allocated and completed within a timely manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring suppliers are performing well and where issues occur that Supplier Corrective Actions are robust enough to prevent further risk to the business.
  • Working with suppliers to help them understand our requirements and quality standards.
  • Management and completion of FAI Report for customers in line with the requirements of AS9102.
  • Issuing and managing concessions and production permits
  • Provide quality input in design and processes reviews, to ensure products can be manufactured right first time whilst instilling a no-fault forward ethos into the business.
  • Assist in the development of written policies and procedures essential to the administration and operation of the Quality Management System. This includes timely updates as changes in Quality standards dictate.
Preferred Qualifications And Experience
  • Quality function and/or Engineering experience. Experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 or similar standards is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience of preparing ISIR/FAIR/PPAP documents
  • Must have working knowledge and experience with Quality Management Systems, Product Realisation Systems, problem solving methodologies.

  • Occasional travel to customer locations, facilities and other sites as needed.

  • 8:00 am - 4.30 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00 to 3.30pm Friday
