Tamworth is IPL’s largest site in the UK. Situated in Staffordshire, IPL Tamworth boasts a modern manufacturing facility incorporating 55 Injection Moulding Machines using a wide range of processes to produce a varied product range for well know household brands and products. Paint cans, confectionary and ice cream containers, bread trays, totes for automated warehousing and construction products are some examples of our product ranges. Tamworth has a proud tradition of using recycled plastics with 60% of the Polymer purchased being from recycled sources and offers its customers a circularity environmental option by recovering their used broken plastic products and converting them into new products.

Role: QA Engineer

Hours: Monday to Friday: 40 hours per week

Shift: Days – 08.00 -16.00


Location: IPL Tamworth, Mariner, Tamworth, B79 7UL

We have a vacancy within the Quality team for a QA Engineer. This is a great opportunity for someone who has a genuine passion for Quality and wants to support the site in maintaining and improving the quality of our products. Training can be provided regarding the technical aspects of the role, but what is more important is that the successful candidate Is committed to being the ‘goalkeeper’ of quality for our customers, ensuring that the product customers receive is of the highest standard

QA Engineer Role:

  • Receiving customer complaints and logging details, initiating 8D report and coordinating investigation through to completion.
  • Alerting and liaising with relevant departments of customer concerns.
  • Conducting investigations into internal product failures.
  • Carrying out APQP activities as requested by the QHSE Manager including dimensional / capability studies, product testing, PPAP, Process FMEA / Control Plans and Part Submission Warrants.
  • Maintaining calibration records of all QA measuring equipment and ensuring re-calibration is undertaken within defined schedules.
  • Generating Quality Alerts
  • Liaising with other departments to improve product quality and cost efficiency via scrap reduction.
  • Involvement in production /material / packaging trials as requested by the QHSE Manager.
  • Supporting Production with Operator product knowledge training.
  • Help in maintaining the Company’s ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FDA, BBA and BRC certificates.
  • Introduction and monitoring of statistical processes data / Cpk results

The applicant should:

  • Have previous experience of quality control processes in plastic injection moulding.
  • Have experience of performing measurements and testing.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Be confident with the ability to influence others.
  • Be proactive, tenacious and persistent.
  • Be organised, structured and methodical with a passion for good administration and record keeping.
  • Have a good level of computer literacy, be able to use Outlook and Excel, Word.
  • Have a valid driving license.
