Biocatalysts develop and manufacture speciality enzymes from small to large scale quantities for a variety of industries such as food, flavor, fragrance, life science, pharma and fine chemicals. We are the only company offering a rapid, low-cost speciality enzyme service from discovery phase through to global shipment of regulatory compliant enzymes.
Position
Due to an internal promotion, we have an opportunity for a Quality Control Team Leader who will supervise the quality control activities within our QC Team.
You will be responsible for all aspects of Quality, Food Safety, Environmental, Health & Safety Management system relating to Quality Control to ensure that all our raw materials and final products are tested and released in compliance with our specifications and schedule.
Salary: £30,000 & substantial benefits
Location: Nantgarw, Cardiff
Working hours: 09:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday
Requirements
HNC standard or equivalent in laboratory and associated technical activities is essential along with strong practical experience of quality control systems and procedures in a food, pharma or chemical environment. Having biochemical assay experience will be advantageous.

Stage 1

We will be reviewing applications and will let you know whether or not you have been short listed to the next stage of the process by 13th April 2022.
Stage 2
Video conference Interviews (via Microsoft Teams) will be scheduled for Wednesday, 13th April 2022. You will need to allow up to 1 hour and you will be interviewed by our Food Safety Officer and HR Officer. We will explore your experience and personal qualities that are relative to the role.
Following the interview, we will be able to let you know whether or not you have been successful within 48 hours.
Stage 3
This is the final stage of the process and you will be invited to Biocatalysts and have a tour of our facility on Tuesday, 19th April 2022.
Applicants short listed for final will be sent the following:

  • Personality Profile Analysis (PPA) questionnaire – this helps us understand your working style. This questionnaire is not concerned with abilities but will help us to find out more about how you like to work. There are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answers or ‘good’ or ‘bad’ qualities to these questionnaires
  • General Intelligence Assessment (GIA) pre-test booklet – this test measures specific abilities such as word and numerical meaning

You will also need to provide evidence of your qualifications and eligibility to work in the UK.
Following the interview, we will be able to let you know whether or not you have been successful within 48 hours. It is only at this stage that references, subject to your approval, will be checked should an offer be made.
At the end of the selection process, you will be offered the opportunity to have feedback on the PPA & GIA assessments you completed
