The Business performs Environmental and Consumer Safety Contract Research and Regulatory Services for the Crop Protection, Pharmaceutical, Industrial Chemical, and the Consumer Product industries. Smithers ERS has performed standard guideline and higher-tiered Environmental studies for over 45 years and conducts studies to satisfy all Regulatory requirements globally.

Key offerings include Environmental Fate, Plant and Animal Metabolism, Aquatic and Terrestrial Ecotoxicology, Honeybee and Pollinator testing, Avian Toxicology, Residue, Analytical, and Product Chemistry, and Regulatory Risk assessment.

Within our European site, the need has arisen for a Quality Assurance (QA) Officer to join the Quality Assurance Team in Harrogate.

Reporting directly to the Director of Quality Assurance, you will work to assure Management that the Company’s scientific research activities comply with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations.

This position will be responsible for conducting the full range of QA audit activities, including:

  • Data and Report Audits
  • Protocol Reviews
  • In-Life Inspections
  • Internal/External Facility Audits
  • Computer System Validations (CSV)

In addition, the position will provide the opportunity to:

  • Lead and participate in Process Improvement activities.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Quality Training.
  • Advise and support our Clients and Technical Teams in all aspects of Quality and Compliance.
  • Play a key role in maintaining and developing our Culture of Quality and Compliance

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Proven industry experience, working within QA in a GxP regulated environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of, and the ability to interpret, GLP regulations in order to ensure compliance.
  • Good writing, numeracy and computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work alongside - and influence - people at all levels of the Organisation.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • The ability to identify opportunities for improvement and drive to successful implementation.
  • Experience of CSV auditing and the ability to train others, in a range of QA related activities, would also be advantageous.
