Quality Assurance Engineer

Would you like to play a key role in quality assurance; pursuing supplier engagement to improve the delivery of goods, auditing suppliers and investigating failures? We currently have a vacancy for a Quality Assurance Engineer at our site in Portsmouth Naval Base.

As a Quality Assurance Engineer you will be responsible for providing supplier quality support to the local business areas to ensure the business remains compliant to the local management system.

This role will provide you the opportunity for potential for promotion within the quality or supply chain stream. As well as wider opportunities within BAE Systems.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities as Quality Assurance Engineer will involve
  • Supporting the planning, execution, and acceptance of projects
  • Engaging with stakeholders to resolve issues
  • Undertaking internal audits and quality investigations
  • Confirming that processes are effective
  • Assisting with the management of suppliers to assure the delivery of products and services
  • Coordinating business improvements
  • Raising quality alerts and supporting the management of Non-Conformances
  • Creating quality management plans and developing new processes
Essential

Your skills and qualifications:
  • Recognised Qualification / Experience in Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality - or a background within MOD e.g. Royal Navy /Army / RAF Engineer (ET Senior Rating or Engineer Officer)
  • Ability to use standard IT systems
  • Communicate effectively and have an ability to write concise reports
Desirable
  • HNC, Degree, equivalent qualification in engineering, manufacturing or quality
  • Knowledge/understanding of Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvements (e.g. 5 Whys, Fishbone, Six Sigma)
  • Knowledge/Understanding of Quality Management (e.g. ISO9001 / EN9100 standards)
  • Background in Defence and or the Royal Navy
  • Experience in auditing or ISO9001 Lead Auditor qualified
  • SAP – ERP Program or similar experience
Qualifications
  • Preference for HNC, Degree, equivalent qualification in engineering, manufacturing or quality
What We’re Looking For In You

You will have the ability to interact and negotiate with all supplier surveillance audit stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes whilst engaging with senior representatives of external companies in a professional and constructive manner. Becoming a trusted representative of the company during supplier surveillance audits and support Team Lead in discussions following completion of surveillance audits utilising your facilitation skills and the ability to lead cross functional groups. With the ability to develop, prioritise and drive a detailed programme of work, able to critique and tailor issues and ideas in written reports and presentations ensuring accuracy and clarity of meaning across delivery streams whilst motivating and focusing on people & teams across boundaries. You will build/improve effective and productive Supplier and Customer relationships and be results orientated.

c.£37,000 depending on experience
