An opportunity has arisen for a capable and enthusiastic individual to join the Technical Team as Quality Assistant at Taylors of Harrogate within our tea and coffee manufacturing facility on a permanent basis.You will partner with the Quality Co-ordinator and wider Technical Team to provide support to our Manufacturing Teams to ensure our products, premises and processes comply with legal, customer and best practice standards in relation to food safety and quality.This is a varied role however responsibilities will include:
  • Ensuring our products, premises and processes comply with legal, customer and best practice standards in relation to food safety and quality.
  • Providing proactive support to the Manufacturing Teams.
  • Overseeing the calibration schedule, liaising with internal colleagues and suppliers as required, to ensure all relevant equipment remains compliant.
  • Maintenance of the departmental Sharepoint site to ensure compliance.
  • Arranging samples to be sent for analytical testing, including liaising with 3rd party laboratories, collecting samples and ensuring appropriate corrective actions where necessary.
  • Weights and Measures – completion of checks on the scales within manufacturing, maintaining tare weights of packaging for calibration packs used by the Manufacturing Teams and monitoring of batch weights to ensure compliance.
  • Managing the control of sharps used by the Manufacturing Teams.
  • Actively participating in the review and challenge of all existing QC checks and tasks within the Technical Team to ensure any checks are based on fact.
About YouOur ideal candidate will have previous experience in a quality role in a food manufacturing environment including a good working knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice.You will have knowledge of food safety, HACCP and quality management systems and ideally you will hold a minimum of Level 3 Award in both Food Safety and HACCP for Manufacturing. You will have strong, practical mathematics skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will have strong computer literacy (including MS Office) and excellent attention to detail. You will have excellent attention to detail, be able to build strong relationships, have the ability to manage your time effectively and prioritise your workload and feel comfortable working in a changing environment.Normal hours of work are 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday and specific hours can be agreed during the recruitment process.
