About the role


Our buying team are currently on the look-out for a QA Technician Manager to join the Buying Team. Reporting into our Head of Buying, you’ll be responsible for all things safety and compliance and ensuring products meet set guidelines, within a tight timeline. You’ll have communication with third party suppliers and conducting quality control investigations.


You’ll act as the technical brains within the team, assisting the rest of the buying team with their technical issues and advising them on product QA where needed.


Key Responsibilities


  • Investigating root causes of complaints, making corrective action plans.
  • Evaluating products for safety & legal compliance, developing products to tight deadlines.
  • Working with test laboratories to arrange testing & auditing, keeping up-to-date schedules and tracking progress.
  • Gathering supplier data, communicating with suppliers domestic and international.
  • Hands on quality control investigations (recording findings, writing summary conclusions).
  • Assisting the Buying team in resolving technical issues.

Knowledge, skills & experience


  • Good evaluation & investigation skills, understanding of manufacturing and product safety.
  • Have a Scientific approach to work with an understanding of standards an advantage.
  • Clear report writing, articulate, able to present findings briefly but clearly.
  • Some project management skills an advantage.
  • Experience in data gathering, detailed recording, meticulous attention to detail is a strong asset.
  • People skills: approachable, engaging with other colleagues, suppliers, external associates.
