QA Technician

Full-time, Shift work (4 on, 4 off) with the possibility of working day or night shifts.

Marston Foods is an award-winning, leading manufacturer of top-tier hand-made desserts, developing, producing and delivering private label products for customers such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Morrisons, Lidl and Asda.

Quality Assurer Job Specification

Hours:

Reporting to the Technical Manager/Quality Assurance Manager. Working on a shift pattern 4 days on 4 days off.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferably in Technical.
  • Strong personality who can prioritise, challenge and manage quality on shift via Production departments. Must have the strength and ability to make decisions that may impact on service level.
  • Good personal and communication skills. Must be able to work as a team and as an individual.
  • Tenacity and the ability to investigate non-conformances and pro-actively provide solutions.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of bakery products and the issues that occur
  • Experience of managing Food Safety and Quality on shift.
  • Intermediate certificate in HACCP
  • Experience with both being audited and completing audits.

Job Role:

  • To ensure that all products despatched are produced to specification.
  • To ensure food safety is maintained at all times, via HACCP/CCP monitoring, auditing and process auditing, including paperwork audits.
  • Making sure the hygiene standards on the shift comply with Marston Foods policy on a daily basis. This is achieved by daily and monthly auditing and through supervision of shift hygiene operatives.
  • Impacting on and reducing product waste via a proactive and hands-on quality monitoring process.
  • Carrying out and managing internal audits including daily HACCP, Hygiene Glass & Plastic.
  • Ensuring all quality monitoring equipment is functioning within parameters.
  • Responsible for TAYGO taste panel positive release process (panel leader) and monitoring product quality via sensory panels and line analysis, taking corrective actions as appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for Raw Material and Packaging intake checks.
  • Ensuring that micro schedule is met. To be responsible for taking samples and swabs and following up non-conformances via quality alerts systems, re-testing and implementing corrective actions as required.
  • Driving continuous improvement through the business via investigations and non-conformance management.
  • Being capable of completing full traceability of our products. Investigating complaints with reports and actions to help reduce consumer complaints.
  • Managing Quality, food safety and hygiene at all times on shift and driving continuous improvement within the business. This role is site responsible for these aspects out of business hours (including weekends) but the individual has overall responsibility and ownership for ensuring that Quality Standards are met and exceeded at all times.
  • Supporting and assisting other departments within the business – NPD and Production, as required.
