This manufacturing giant are looking to strengthen their operations by attracting into the team a purchasing professional who will focus on special projects for a global customer base.

This position involves working closely with engineers, managing vendor relationships, and contributing to the successful delivery of custom projects.

Within the key role of Purchasing Manager, typical responsibilities will be to: -

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to agree specifications and parts requirements.
  • Manage vendor selection, relationships, and quality performance.
  • Managing parts and bills of material for custom project builds.
  • Place orders, track vendor progress, and expedite as necessary.
  • Attend weekly project progress meetings to update team on procurement tasks.
  • Assist with costing of projects and the preparation of bids.
  • Source components for new product development projects.
  • Ensure compliance with project timelines and deliverables.
  • Evaluate and negotiate supplier contracts to secure advantageous terms.

The successful candidate will: -

  • Have purchasing experience gained within a manufacturing environment.
  • Have used ERP systems or similar.
  • Be able to build solid vendor relationships.
  • Have excellent communication.
  • Be comfortable working in an ambiguous and changeable environment.
  • Be self-motivated, willing to take the initiative and make decisions.
  • A flexible approach, with a desire to learn and develop.
