Purchasing Assistant £30,000, Kirby Malzeard, On Site Parking, 20 Days Holiday Plus Bank Holidays, Training, Development & Progression, Small Friendly Team, Brand New Offices. Due to continued business growth and internal promotion we are looking to recruit a Purchasing Assistant for this quality manufacturer based near Ripon. The main purpose of this role is to provide administration and customer service support to the purchasing department. This is a stand alone position, however you will work closely with other departments including the technical and sales teams, building lasting relationships with suppliers. As Purchasing Assistant you will report directly to the General Manager and responsibilities will include sourcing materials, buying consumables and packaging, negotiating with suppliers to ensure best prices and liaising with internal departments to ensure a smooth process from initial purchase order through to delivery. Duties: Maintain and update manufacturing sheets Order and manage stock levels Liaise with suppliers and negotiate best prices and delivery times Raise purchase orders Authorise invoices and match invoices with supplier delivery notes Quality check incoming orders to ensure accuracy Manage any outsourced projects Maintain and update supplier approval information Assist with ensuring all new suppliers adhere to company policies Update product specifications and costs Compile monthly reports on figures General administration including scanning, filing and archiving Work closely with the sales, engineering, administration and accounts departments Requirements: Previous experience in a Purchasing role preferred A confident personality with a strong ability to negotiate Exceptional organisational skills, able handle multiple tasks simultaneously Good customer service skills, able to build long term supplier relationships Excellent communication skills with a good telephone manner Experience in a manufacturing background would be beneficial Motivated and driven to succeed A team player attitude Own transport required due to location This Purchasing Assistant role would suit someone who has worked in an engineering or manufacturing environment and has worked in purchasing, procurement, supply chain or in a buyer role.
