We are seeking a highly motivated and data detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join our team at Pooky Lighting. As a Purchasing Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the Purchasing Manager with forecasting the demand, procurement, and supplier management, managing purchase orders, and ensuring timely deliveries, as well as conducting purchasing data analysis and maintaining accurate records of purchasing transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting data analysis of inventory levels to identify potential shortages or excess stock, optimising inventory levels to reduce costs and improve efficiency, and tracking inventory turnover rates.
  • Use historical data and market trends to forecast future demand for inventory items to ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained and prevent stockouts.
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager with the ordering process, ensuring that all orders are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Monitor stock levels and identify purchasing needs to maintain inventory levels.
  • Generate and send purchase orders.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding production lead times and delivery schedules.
  • Manage and update internal databases with order details, including expected delivery dates, and vendor information.
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager in communicating with the finance team to organise supplier invoice payments.
  • Follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders and ensure timely delivery.
  • Provide administrative support to the Purchasing Manager, including preparing reports, and
  • maintaining files.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager.

Qualifications

  • 3 Years experience as a merchandiser/purchasing assistant, or a similar analytical role, who loves data.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of supply chain procedures and inventory control.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel reporting capabilities, and experience with inventory management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Knowledge of the interiors/lighting industry and related products is advantageous but not essential.
  • Competitive salary dependent upon relevant experience.
