TEACHER OF ART & DESIGN

We are a vibrant, forward-thinking school that places significant value on professional learning and career development. We are seeking an inspirational, highly motivated and innovative Art and Design Teacher to join our welcoming Visual Arts team. The successful candidate will be able to teach Art and Design, including Photography, across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 (GCSE and A-Level).

The Arts are highly valued at Kingsthorpe College and are in many ways at the heart of the school. We believe that engagement across both Performing and Visual Arts subjects significantly supports the mental health and wellbeing of our students, and aids them in becoming compassionate, well-rounded individuals in line with our four core values: Aspiration, Responsibility, Respect and Care. with our values and is also able to achieve high quality outcomes. In Years 7 and 8, students receive three Art and Design lessons per fortnight. In Year 9, students have the opportunity to specialise in either Fine Art, Photography, 3D Design or Textiles (or a combination). We currently deliver the OCR GCSE specification at KS4 and at KS5, and have offered vocational pathways in Creative Digital Media (BTEC) in the past.

Kingsthorpe College is an oversubscribed 11-18 Academy with approximately 1400 students on roll (200 students Post-16). We were graded by Ofsted as Good in all areas in December 2019, and we are now looking forward to the next stage of our journey from good to great. In September 2021, we joined Orbis Education Trust, and this has unlocked further possibilities for colleagues to develop, progress, and make a significant contribution to inspiring the students within our schools.
