A brilliant opportunity to join the Wine and Spirits division of a global luxury retail group as a Legal Counsel. This role will be responsible for covering operational and commercial activities for all European markets with a significant focus on the UK business.

Reporting into the Legal Director for EMEA, key responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting, review and negotiating contracts for a variety of commercial and legal agreements such as T&C, sale and supply, sponsorship, influencer, services and agency agreements.
  • Support and lead multi-market or region-wide legal negotiations and initiatives.
  • Advise on compliance with consumer protection laws and advertising codes.
  • Supporting sales and marketing activities including delivering legal training to the marketing team.
  • Working with the central legal team on branding matters and providing UK legal advice.
  • Providing support to ensure continued compliance with applicable data protection legislation.
  • Supporting the Legal Director on European-wide corporate matters and other projects.
  • Liaising with and managing external counsel where required.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

  • England & Wales qualified lawyer with 2-5 PQE gained in private practice or within an in-house environment (however all candidates will be considered on merit).
  • Prior experience in the Retail, Luxury, E-Commerce or Consumer industries will be favourable.
  • Experience leading on a variety of commercial legal matters, ideally with experience of handling marketing and advertising compliance reviews.
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive commercial and solutions-focused approach in dealing with a variety of global legal issues.
  • Strong analytical and technical drafting abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Confident and calm under pressure, adaptive and resilient to changes, with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrates the ability to present and communicate complex information in a concise and compelling format.
