Reporting to a Senior Production Editor, the Junior Production Editor will work with the Content Production team to ensure projects meet production schedules and that pre-flight proofing checks are made before publications are sent to press.
The ideal candidate has a publishing-related degree and/or prior publishing experience, but we are open to submissions from a range of degree backgrounds. Applicants should have excellent written English skills and will be required to take a copy-editing and layout assessment as part of the selection process
What you would be doing:

  • Layout and templating of multiple digital and print publications simultaneously
  • Picture research and editing
  • Implementing author/proofer amendments
  • Collaborating with internal departments
  • Pre-flight proofing and sending publications to press, as well as approving final PDFs and resolving any issues at the printers

What we are looking for:

  • Competent to advanced knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Acrobat
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop and, ideally, Illustrator
  • Understanding of XML and/or digital publishing advantageous but not essential
  • Attention to detail and accuracy within work, following house style with the ability to learn guidelines quickly
  • Demonstrable copy-editing skills
  • Approachable character
  • Ability to prioritise and work to multiple deadlines
  • Good reading, writing and organisational skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of print and digital design specifications
