Job IntroductionLondon is a patch like no other; serving the largest and most diverse city in Europe on some of the biggest stories. BBC London prides itself on producing original journalism that reflects the many communities we serve. Our 6.30 evening programme, on BBC One, is regularly the most watched TV news programme in the capital. Our online stories are amongst the most read and our social media posts reach millions of people each week. We’ve always worked collaboratively across TV, Radio and Online and are committed to delivering impactful content that travels even further on all platforms.We are now looking for two journalists to join our team on six month contracts/attachments. The ideal candidates will have experience of working in a busy newsroom and in a multi-platform environment. We are looking for journalists that can bring fresh ideas and creative treatments, as well as the necessary skills to deliver them. You’ll be part of our friendly and supportive team, pitching and developing original ideas and working with reporters and correspondents to bring those stories to air. You’ll set up filming and guests and brief your colleagues. You’ll commission graphics from our designer and create your own using templates. We really encourage multimedia working, so you may find yourself working on our website and social media channels.Are you the right candidate?Ideally, you’ll have experience working in live TV news. We can give you the training in that though. What’s more important though is that you’re full of great ideas, you love working in teams, you understand the importance of accuracy and you enjoy being busy. You should also be really interested in working online and in social media so you can be part of how we get our stories to as many people as possiblePackage DescriptionBand: CContract: 6 Months Fixed Term FullTimeLocation: LondonYou are eligible to apply for an internal role if you are either on a BBC Continuing (Permanent) contract, a BBC Fixed Term contract, a casual contract or freelance contract and you have worked continuously for 6 months.Only internal staff are eligible to apply for the role on an attachment basis. You need to be on a continuing (permanent) or fixed-term contract. You need to have worked for the BBC for more than one year and will also need permission from your line manager.
