We are looking for an Associate within our Manchester Commercial, Technology and Data team.

Our team provides advice to private and public sector clients across a number of different sectors (including manufacturing, food and beverage, technology, retail and financial services). Our team includes a wide variety of experts, from contracts lawyers to technology, privacy, consumer and financial services experts and individuals that are ‘Ranked’ as a ‘Leading Individual’, ‘Outstanding Lawyer’ and/or ‘Stand-Out Talent’ by major legal directories.

Our team provides advice to meet the needs of our clients and help further their business interests – from the day-to-day contracts to some of the largest and most complex projects within the UK. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The role within our Manchester Commercial, Technology and Data team will involve you working as part of a team advising on a range of commercial and IT contracting matters across a range of sectors – from day to day contracts to some of the most strategic and business critical contracts our clients enter into. You will be provided with training and support from partners and other leading fee-earners on a day-to-day basis across a broad spread of work.

This includes advising on the procurement of goods and services (including supply agreements, distribution agreements and agency agreements), providing support with respect to commercial and IT contracts in the context of corporate transactions, multi-jurisdictional outsourcings, the procurement of IT goods and services (including IT outsourcing, SaaS, PaaS and IaaS) and other commercial projects. The workload is varied and rewarding and you will have active engagement with clients and colleagues across the globe, and there will be plenty of opportunity for you to take on additional responsibility and advance your career.

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this role you must be a qualified or dual qualified Lawyer in England and Wales.

We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies. We have however given an indicative PQE as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have between 0 - 4 years PQE, are likely to have the right level of knowledge and will have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role.

You will:

  • have a desire to work for a premium law firm for FTSE 100 clients on market-leading work;
  • have a knowledge of commercial contract terms and the key legal, commercial and operational issues arising across commercial deals;
  • work collaboratively with other team members, even taking the lead and managing your own workload when requested; and
  • be able to establish trust and confidence with clients and build and develop relationships with existing internal and external contacts.
