Overview

As an Infrastructure Architect you will assist Infrastucture and Platform Delivery teams with a focused ethos to work across multiple domains on a range of technologies and services, whilst driving modernisation using contemporary solutions and tools.

Your focus is to work closely and collaboratively with stakeholders, technical and managerial, platform and operations teams,. You will provide architectural governance and technical leadership, ensuring that infrastructure systems and services are fit for purpose and meet exacting standards.

Infrastructure Architecture sits between platform architecture and infrastructure providing expertise and solution design of traditional and modern infrastructure technologies through an established architecture standards and framework. This offers a standard set of processes, tools and templates to deliver strategic and tactical methods that meet the challenges created by the continued growth of the organisation.

You will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of technical documentation such as HLD and LLD used in a project lifecycle and be well versed in the provision and presentation of infrastructure roadmaps and strategic initiatives, translating ideas and goals to the appropriate viewpoint of the audience.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience with a specialist understanding of on-premise infrastructure architecture and hybrid cloud solutions, with the ability to define operating standards at an enterprise level.
• Extensive experience of production infrastructure and operations, delivering innovative technical solutions within a well established architecture function.
• Proficient in the provision of high quality documents such as specifications technical and non-technical, technical and commercial appraisal and presentations, operating standards and test plans.
• Ability to build effective working relationships, collaborating ideas from multiple stakeholders.
• Creative problem solving skills and a solutions focused approach.
• Hands on experience of migrating infrastructure services to Cloud.
• Knowledge of automation tooling to facilitate CI andCD approaches to IaC.
• Commercial experience in a senior technical lead role is preferred, alongside a degree level qualification in a technology related subject or industry related experience.

Main Responsibilities

• Establishing a progressive architecture, design and delivery framework to guide, visibility, standards and governance processes which can be adopted by all consumers.
• Reviewing new and potentially disruptive technologies, understanding how their operation and engineering fit into the eco systems.
• Developing short and long-term strategic infrastructure technology roadmaps, backed by pragmatic designs that support our enterprise technology roadmaps and key business objectives.
• Overseeing the provision of high quality documents such as specifications technical and non-technical, technical and commercial proposals, operating standards and test deployment plans.
• Creating flexible and more agile ways of working with a view to automating services.
• Providing ongoing information to the teams regarding the general health of the environment, as well as enhancements and innovations.
• Ensuring that key platform product life cycles are understood, tracked, and communicated with appropriate remediation when required.
• Analysing projections of platform metrics and the impact or enhancements required to ensure the platform remains operational, optimised and available.
• Guiding management, technical leads and engineers alike in staying informed of industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Overseeing the steering of groups to identify the evaluation of new technology and concepts as opportunity for infrastructure solutions or lifecycle upgrades.
