ParkerSteel part of the THL (UK) Holdings Group has a new and exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced Group Network Manager, to help with the expansion and assimilation of businesses within our Group. Based at our Canterbury Site, this is a full time role, 40 hours per week. It will require occasional travel to other sites within the group including Ipswich, Dudley and Andover. There may be some home working opportunities but this role will primarily be an on-site based one.

Main Purpose of the role

  • To plan and project manage upgrades and changes to the group’s data networks and infrastructure as necessary.
  • To ensure the operation of the group’s local area, worldwide and virtual private networks, remains robust, uninterrupted, secure and fit for purpose.
  • To manage the IT network and support teams to ensure an efficient and effective service is provided to end users.
  • To plan and project manage upgrades and changes to the group’s data networks and infrastructure as necessary.

Knowledge, experience and skills required

  • Minimum of a Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • 5 years’ experience of managing data networks and infrastructure for multi-site businesses.
  • 5 years of related work experience with LAN and WAN networking (And understanding of networking protocols & voice principals) with advanced knowledge of IP.
  • Experience of network design & architecture including network/server/telecommunications systems software equipment, such as routers, switches and virtual private networks.
  • Experience of configuring and administering networking equipment, such as routers and switches (ideally Cisco) and of configuring and administering firewalls (Ideally Palo Alto).
  • Working knowledge and experience of:
    • IP phne systems;
    • Netwrking ports and protocols;
    • Managing Dmains and DNS;
    • Netwrk security including firewalls and anti-virus;
    • Implementing and managing applicatins in ‘the Cloud’.
    • Knwledge of IBM iSeries will be beneficial, but not essential
  • CISCO certifications; (CCNA), (CCNP), (CCIE)) are desirable.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated, organised & able to work in a professional environment with limited direct supervision.
  • Proactive by nature with a positive attitude.
  • Passionate about technology, eager and quick to learn.
  • Strong Leadership skills.
