Beginning September 2021 for one year
(Currently) £16,375 over a period of 11 months
Graduate Music Assistants are advanced performers who provide advice and coaching for our exceptional young musicians. To a certain degree, each role can be tailored to individual skills and future aspirations. The ability to assist with other musical disciplines, including piano accompaniment, theory, aural and accompaniment, is also an asset. Applicants should be prepared to work flexible hours, approximately 44 hours per week, term time plus 2 additional weeks (35 weeks p.a.).
There are two posts available, the senior post details are as outlined above. The Junior School post will focus on supporting our Head of Junior Music with accompanying, scheduling practice, theory and aural support for our young musicians and choristers and helping to organise the chaperoning rota for taking pupils to instrumental lessons across the site.
Any applications for the Junior School Graduate Music Assistant position, should include in their application details of their experience of working with children aged 4-11 and a short video (maximum 5 minutes) of a performance on the piano, (solo or accompanying role).
Any applications for the senior post should include a short video, (maximum 5 minutes) of a performance on their first instrument, this can be with or without accompaniment.
Accommodation is available. Where this is the case, a small charge (currently £100 per week) is made and this is deducted from the monthly salary.
It may be possible to combine the post with a residential post within a boarding house and this can be discussed further at the interview. Additional awards are available to residential staff.
Suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing date and Wells Cathedral School reserves the rights to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made. Applicants are therefore encouraged to apply early.
