Role Description

Building on the high growth and success that Railsbank has experienced, we have exciting plans to improve and expand our data platform to support both internal and customer-facing insights.

You will work closely with embedded analysts and senior stakeholders throughout the business, as well as other data analysts, data engineers and data scientists, to deliver high-quality dashboards and insights. As Railsbank continues its focus on data governance, you will be playing an important role as a data steward in your business unit, ensuring the robustness of your data insights as well as compliance of your data.

This role will sit within the Global Customer Insights team, where you will be working on all types of commercial data, gathering insights and ensuring our global sales organisation have sufficient access to information in order to drive performance. You will be working on both quantitative and qualitative data, liaising with key stakeholders across the business such as the Chief Commercial Officer to allow for intelligent and accurate storytelling.

A Day in the Life…

• UK based location, Edinburgh, Newcastle, London with remote work
• Building out quantitative and qualitative reports for the global sales Organisation
• Deliver insights in how to improve our customer journey and sales motion
• Build intuitive dashboards in both Salesforce and looker which enable our all commercial stakeholders access to important data in real-time.
• Own the sales forecasting data

You will be responsible for creating and maintaining Data dashboards for your business area, and presenting insights from them. All team members at Railsbank use Looker to see business data.

Railsbank is a people-first culture. You will be passionate about working with your team and stakeholders across the business, using data and engaging visuals to influence decisions. You’ll be carrying out exploratory data analysis for your area to find data sources, check data quality, produce dashboards and provide your stakeholders with insights.

Who am I going to be working with?

• Philis the VP of Global Sales and Operations: he believes in a Data-driven approach to selling and is passionate about how data & insights can help drive revenue and highlight potential risks and opportunities within the sales motion. He’s successful in building Kick*ss Sales Machines.

• Mikeis the team leader for corporate data analytics, who likes getting his hands on new tech and talking about all things data! Really enjoying his first move into fintech.

• Shibing, Luke and 25+ data analysts embedded in business teams from Engineering and Finance to Customer Success

• Samyleads the data engineering team and is passionate about quality and will bring his relentless eye for detail, and Uncle Bob references, to your conversations and code reviews

• Seanset up the Railsbank data platform last year and wears interesting t-shirts to distract you from his PhD in quantum computing

• You will also work with data scientists, other members of Mike & Samy’s teams, and lots people throughout Railsbank who need data and insight

The Railsbank Data Platform is built on Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Looker and databricks to deliver robust, accurate and timely data where it’s needed.

What we look for in your professional skills & key capabilities

• Degree educated, ideally in a STEM subject or strong professional experience in this area
• Passion for making an impact for the business through data
• Good SQL experience
• Google Sheets / Microsoft Excel experience
• Salesforce skills
• Great problem framing, problem-solving & critical thinking skills
• Excellent communicator, presenter and knowledge sharer (with internal, external, technical, non-technical audiences)
• Dashboard building experience with BI Tools such as Looker (preferred), Tableau, Power BI
• Data modelling experience (again, Looker preferred)
• Experience with Python
• Pro-active at pulling actionable insights from data to support decision making
• Data exploration skills - ability to interrogate data to understand its structure and potential issues

Desirable:

• Experience in a FinTech, financial services or payments environment
• Experience working within a customer success/sales environment
• LookML / Looker
• Version control tools (e.g. GitLab, GitHub) & workflow
• JIRA & agile methodology experience
