Estates & Facilities Services specialises in providing an in-house facility management (FM) service to the university, that encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality, comfort, safety and efficiency of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology and has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Maintenance Assistant to join our dynamic team.

The new Maintenance Assistant will be joining Estates & Facilities Services at an exciting and positive time of change. The university has invested £100 million on its Canterbury campus in the construction of a new bespoke STEM building along with an arts teaching facility.

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Estates team across the university’s property portfolio. The role will cover a broad range of tasks, working alongside the university’s trade team with a particular focus on undertaking general maintenance-related tasks to support all reactive, planned works, preventative maintenance (PPM) including fire alarm and emergency light testing, defect rectification, incidents & emergencies on university building fabric, plant, equipment, fixtures and fittings.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate;

  • An ability to effectively organise allocated work, with a flexible approach, that can be adapted across both educational and residential buildings to support colleagues
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the personal drive to complete tasks to required time-scales and quality standards
  • A team player with good cooperation and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels with many different stakeholders
  • Valid UK driving licence
